Ty Segall Performs “My Lady’s on Fire”, Tries to Make Hillary Clinton Connections & More on ‘The Opposition with Jordan Klepper’ (Watch)
Tonight, Ty Segall had the honor of being the first musical guest to perform on Comedy Central’s The Opposition with Jordan Klepper. He used the opportunity to plug his soon-to-be-released LP Freedom’s Goblin, and dazzled with a special solo rendition of “My Lady’s on Fire”. You can check it out below. Jordan, who seemed to be down on the idea of having a musical guest on his alternative media news show, put Ty through the ringer. Ty rolled with the punches and was a good sport about things.
At the top of the show, Jordan announced that Ty was appearing, and added that the artist was going to have to pull his weight. A camera then cut to Ty in front a detective’s link chart. With string in hand, Ty said he was having difficulty making a connection between Hillary Clinton and last week’s snowstorms. Then, later in the show, Ty played the role of “food taster”. He ate something off of Jordan’s desk and confirmed it was not poisonous. After his stellar performance of “My Lady’s on Fire”, Jordan asked Ty if the name of his new album, Freedom’s Goblin, was a reference to Jeff Sessions. Ty responded by saying “Yes. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Totally.”
The selection of Ty as being The Opposition with Jordan Klepper‘s first musical guest likely has something to do with the fact that Ty is behind the show’s theme song. The Opposition with Jordan Klepper is a relatively new show. Having its premiere on Comedy Central on September 25, 2017, the show fills the slot once occupied by The Colbert Report and The Nightly Show With Larry Wilmore.
As for Freedom’s Goblin, the album will be out January 26 via Drag City. You can pre-order it here and check out other album tracks over here. Ty will also be hitting the road in support of the new LP. You can find his North American tour dates below.
