We are happy to report that the summer party series at House of Vans in Greenpoint will rage on for yet another summer. And, thanks to Vans celebrating 50 years “Of the Wall,” this year’s session, presented by FYF, promises to be extra special. In addition to booze for the 21+ set, food truck fare, and a killer polygenre musical lineup that includes DIIV, Sleep, Jon Hopkins, Converge, Rae Sremmurd, and more than a dozen others, the 2016 House Parties also serve up an immersive Vans-infused art experience that taps into New York City’s punk, hardcore and hip hop heritage. The first fete lifts off on Thursday, May 19, and like past years, the parties are free, but RSVP is essential.

To bling out the space, Vans enlisted Brandon Stosuy and Bradford Nordeen to help with selecting the visual artists to participate. Among what revelers will find are a special light installation by Nuit Blanche New York’s Ken Farmer, graffiti art by NYC artists WANE ONE and Stash, a massive collage using vintage NYC punk flyers by Scott Ewalt, and a fully functioning boombox wall commemorating ’80s hip hop and street culture from Bayeté Ross Smith. Also making contributions to the immersive environment are Amy von Harrington, Gwenaël Rattke, filmmaker Jill Reiter, tattooist Zac Scheinbaum, Nick Zaremba, Sean Taggart, and many more.

Kicking off this Thursday, the first soiree of the six-part series is a beat-driven affair featuring Jon Hopkins with visuals by Strangeloop, The Black Madonna, The Field, and a dj set by FIXED NYC. The RSVP is now open. The next shindig at the sprawling indoor/outdoor skatepark-cum-music venue is on Thursday, June 9 and is topped by a set by Zachary Cole Smith’s indie rock outfit DIIV, who have been out touring in support of their sophomore studio album Is the Is Are.
