The Ultimate Dinner & a Movie: NYC Food Film Festival Returns this Weekend
If you’re in the market for a date idea this weekend, then look no further than the NYC Food Film Festival, an event that takes the concept of dinner and a movie to deliciously new heights. Now in its 9th year, this feastful celebration spans four days, October 22-October 25, and serves up a tantalizing assortment of food-themed films accompanied by meals mirroring what is seen on screen. The 2015 mélange features over 30 films, including 8 world premieres and 7 New York City premieres. All screenings take place at the AMC Empire 25 in Times Square.
Kicking off tonight with the meat-loving Tender: Stories of Love and Meat, other highlights include the steamy Food Porn Party, which dishes out succulent ramen prepared by Chef Keizo Shimamoto and Chef Yosuke Sumida, as well as food from Chef Amanda Cohen of Dirt Candy, and Restaurant Revival: Jodie’s Diner (1989-2014), an evening centered around a once beloved but now defunct lunch counter in Albany, CA. New this year is a family event in the afternoon on Saturday (10/24). Eat Your Movies features films Baby Got Kale and Chef Do Re Mi and serves up healthy bites by Night Kitchen, a goat cheese tasting by Fishing Creek Creamery and more. Also making a guest appearance during the kid-friendly event is Sesame Street’s own puppeteer Leslie Carrara-Rudolph.
Proceeds from the NYC Food Film Festival benefit the Billion Oyster Project, an ecosystem restoration and education project that aims to restore one billion live oysters to New York Harbor.
