It’s unclear how long its been in the works, but Talib Kweli surprised fans today by releasing a new album on his website. The record, which appears to be named after Kweli’s debut album with Reflection Eternal, Train of Thought, is 10 tracks of rarities, B-sides and never-before-heard material. It features collaborations with Common, Kanye West, Killa Mike, Yasiin Bey (fka Mos Def), and more. Kweli has been playing a lot of live shows recently. Last week he did two nights at Brooklyn Bowl with a full band, tonight he played Blue Note, and Thursday marks the beginning of his Midsummer Nights Dream Tour. Over the next couple of weeks he’ll be hitting Milwaukee, Detroit, Pittsburgh and more (see schedule below). He’ll be back in New York at the end of the month to headline the Groove Alley Silent Disco on July 31. You can RSVP for that event here.
