Sea Wolf Celebrates ‘Through a Dark Wood’ Record Release on Instagram Live
Sea Wolf’s new LP, Through a Dark Wood, drops today. Instead of a record release party, Alex Brown Church and gang are taking to Instagram to hang with fans and answer questions. The online event goes down at Sea Wolf’s Instagram at 2pm EDT/11am PDT. (UPDATE: Sea Wolf has made Thursdays at 2pm EDT/11am PDT a regular thing during the coronavirus lockdown. Alex either plays music and/or answers questions. He’s mostly on Instagram Live, but he has also broadcast from his Facebook page.)
We got a sneak preview of songs off the record last June when Sea Wolf played National Sawdust in Brooklyn. An extremely intimate effort, Through a Dark Wood is Sea Wolf’s first new album in six years. And, while the record delves into some dark and personal topics such as loss and troubled relationships, the LP is ultimately hopeful.
Sea Wolf released videos for two songs off the record, “Fear of Failure” and “Forever Nevermore.” You can find both below, as well as the audio for standout track “Frank O’Hara.”
As for today’s event, here’s Sea Wolf’s note about how he sees it going down:
Since we won’t be having a record release party, we’d like to invite you all to cap off this weird week with a ‘Live’ hang with us here on Instagram on the day of release – this Friday – at 11am PDT.
It’ll be Scott and I, with Lisa and Joey jumping on from afar. We’ll spin the record in the background and we’ll be responding to your comments/questions in real-time. Please join us. It should be fun!
Through a Dark Wood is out now via Dangerbird Records. You can stream/buy the album here.
