Sally Field Shines in Trailer for ‘Hello, My Name is Doris’
Sally Field is “good weird” in the official trailer for Hello, My Name is Doris. Having premiered at SXSW earlier this year to rave reviews, the film was subsequently acquired by Roadside Attractions and will be hitting theaters in Spring 2016. You can watch the trailer below.
Directed by Michael Showalter (The Baxter, Wet Hot American Summer), Hello, My Name is Doris is a geriatric coming-of-age tale about a post-middle age woman who finds her world turned upside down by a young new crushable co-worker and a self-help seminar that encourages her to follow her heart. In addition to Field, who absolutely shines, as well as glows in the dark, in the trailer, the film stars a number of recognizable faces including Max Greenfield (“New Girl”), Tyne Daly (“Cagney and Lacey”), Beth Behrs (“2 Broke Girls”), Wendi McLendon-Covey (Bridesmaids), Natasha Lyonne (“Orange Is the New Black”) and more. Musician Jack Antonoff of Bleachers also makes an appearance. He even composed a couple of songs just for the film.
Hello, My Name is Doris is based on a short film by Laura Terruso that was produced while she was attending NYU. Showalter saw the film and was so struck by the Doris character, that he asked Terruso to work with him on writing a feature. Terruso happily agreed.
The film is a co-production between Haven Entertainment and Red Crown.
