Morgan Spurlock’s ‘Rats’ in Theaters This Weekend, Watch the Terrifying Trailer
After taking the internet by storm last year for their pizza dragging antics, rats are now the subject of a terrifying documentary by Oscar-nominated director Morgan Spurlock (Super Size Me). Simply entitled Rats, the film had its world premiere in the Midnight Madness section of the Toronto International Film Festival last week and will be playing at the Landmark Sunshine Cinema this weekend before airing on Discovery Channel next month. You can watch the film’s squirm-inducing trailer below.
Inspired by Rob Sullivan’s New York Times bestselling book, Rats is described as a modern-day horror film. It explores the lives of man’s greatest pest, a clever, sharp-toothed rodent species that evolves 10 times faster than humans and is becoming increasingly more difficult to contain. For the film, Spurlock met with rat killers and researchers around the globe to investigate the ways different cultures control, kill and profit off of these vermin.
If you think you can stomach Spurlock’s scary, genre-bending flick in a theatrical setting, it screens September 23-24 at midnight at the Landmark Sunshine Cinema. For those not in New York City, visit the Landmark Theatres website for a theater screening the film near you. If you prefer to wait until it comes to the small screen, it premieres on Discovery Channel on October 22.
