The Loney Island’s ‘Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping’ Comes Clean in New Green Band Trailer
In follow-up to the red band edit shared a few days ago, Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping has dropped an official trailer that’s safe for work. You can check it out below.
Shaping up to be the first comedy hit of the summer, Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping is a mockumentary from musical digital-shorts genius’ Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone, who are collectively known as the Lonely Island. The film profiles singer Conner4Real, a fictitious larger-than-life popstar played by Samberg.
In the new trailer, we see even more similarities between Popstar and the Justin Bieber documentary, Never Say Never. The new edit starts with home movies of Conner performing music at a young age; he’s shown playing the drums as a toddler and singing at birthday parties. The new trailer also features additional cameos by Questlove and Maya Rudolph.
Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping arrives in theaters June 3, 2016. The film is directed by Schaffer and Taccone, written by Samberg, Schaffer, and Taccone, and produced by the Lonely Island, Judd Apatow, and Rodney Rothman. Morgan Sackett is executive producer.
