Oh Sees’ John Dwyer Forms Osees, Shares ‘The 12″ Synth,’ Music for Driving Into a Nuclear Blizzard

Oh Sees John Dwyer 12" SynthAs if the 8-track box set wasn’t already enough to drool over, Oh Sees frontman John Dwyer has shared The 12″ Synth. Castle Face Records posted the vinyl on their website the other day, but details were scant. Yet now, all has become clear. You can check out the audio below. Unfortunately, the 12″, which was available here, is now sold out.

With The 12″ Synth comes yet another moniker for Dwyer to make music under, Osees. This project finds him teaming up with Mr. Elevator AKA Tomas Dolas, the Oh Sees’ keyboardist. Back in April after Facestabber overdubs, Dwyer and Dolas surrounded themselves with synthesizers and keyboards and recorded two lengthy jam sessions at Sonic Ranch, which make up The 12″ Synth. It’s 40 minutes of sublime space-age ambiance that’s broken into two album sides, “Infinite Columns,” and “Regards to the Monolith.”

According to the Osees, they recommend the music for:

Driving into a nuclear blizzard
Slo-mo airport human hunting
Staring at the ceiling(s)
Living through today and what comes next
Healing pod time-kill
Cloud lifting
For fans of
Zanov
Syrinx
Bruce Haack
Bleeps bloops
& Neo-maxi zoom dweebies

Hopefully, the 12″ will come back in stock soon. There is always that Oh Sees 8-track box set, which goes on sale tomorrow.

Mr. Elevator also has an album coming out in January via Castle Face Records, Goodbye, Blue Sky. You can listen to the first single off the record, “Alone Together,” below. John Dwyer says it’s for fans of “Tangerine Dream, Air, Donovan (think the “Hurdy Gurdy Man” LP) The Troggs, Irmin Schmidt, Egg, Stereolab, and even early Mute records.”
