Lily Tomlin Gets a Tattoo and Takes Down Nat Wolff in Trailer for Grandma

Grandma, one of our favorite films that we saw at Tribeca, has a new trailer and will soon be coming to a theater near you. Directed by Paul Weitz (About a Boy), the comedy-drama stars Lily Tomlin as an aging sharp-tongued poet named Elle who gets an unexpected visit from her granddaughter Sage (Julia Gardner). But this isn’t a friendly call, Sage has a problem and is in need of cash quick. The two embark on a daylong fundraising mission that finds them making unannounced visits to Elle’s old friends and lovers. Lily Tomlin is fabulous in the role of the feisty Elle, which Weitz tailor-made for her comedic stylings. The film is boosted by a superb supporting cast that includes Sam Elliott, Nat Wolff and Marcia Gay Harden. Grandma had its world premiere earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival.

From the looks of things, Grandma has been bestowed an R rating for language and drug use, but no mention of the potential controversial subject matter being to blame, hmm…

Check out the trailer below and pencil Grandma’s opening date of August 21st into your calendar now.
