Lana Del Rey and Father John Misty Get Steamy in ‘Freak’ Video
Father John Misty (aka Josh Tillman) and Lana Del Rey’s mutual appreciation for one another has resulted in their first collaboration: the music video for Del Rey’s “Freak.” An incredibly erotic (PG-13) affair, the video had its premiere tonight at the Wiltern in Los Angeles before taking to the Internet. You can oogle it below.
Del Rey first expressed an appreciation for Tillman during an interview she had with Radio.com in 2013. It became apparent that the feelings were returned when Tillman included Honeymoon in a piece he did for Under the Radar where he listed his favorite albums of 2015.
As for the visual for “Freak,” the third single off of Del Rey’s Honeymoon, it appears that the good Father and Del Rey decide to go on a little trip together. And by trip, we mean a mind-altering journey made possible with the assistance of drugs. In addition to Del Rey and Tillman, who are so gorgeous together it’s almost painful, a group of nymphs all dressed in white fawn all over Tillman while Del Rey thoroughly enjoys a cup of red liquid. Halfway through the 11-minute video, which is for an extended version of the song, the steam appears to clear and the camera goes underwater. We find young girls swimming together, similar to Del Rey’s video for “Music To Watch Boys To.” Towards the end, we see that Tillman is also in the tank. We’re guessing the video for “Freak” is by the same director who made “Music To Watch Boys To,” the talented Kinga Burza.
Tillman and Del Rey are certainly a heavenly union, perhaps next time they’ll duet.
