It’s Marc Maron Time
Star Wars Day may have been on Monday and Mother’s Day may be this Sunday, but we’d like to officially call this ‘the fortnight of Marc Maron’. Not only is the lovable curmudgeonly comedian celebrating the season three premiere of his hit IFC television show Maron on May 14, but also he posted the 600th episode of his twice-weekly WTF podcast today, appeared at RadioLoveFest yesterday to interview Fresh Air’s Terry Gross, was a guest on AOL Build on Tuesday, and continues his Maronation Tour this weekend with stops in Seattle, Vancouver and San Francisco before heading to the dirty south. The guy is busy, to say the least.
Fans of Maron’s scripted TV series can actually get an early look at the entire second episode right now, no strings attached. The show finds Marc faced with an unusual proposition and features a guest appearance by Whitney Cummings. The entire third season, which promises 13 brand new half-hour episodes, will find Marc in new awkward situations as he tries to take his life to the next level. This season’s guests include Maria Bramford, Andy Dick, Dr. Drew Pinsky, Elliot Gould, and Patton Oswalt, with Judd Hirsh and Sally Kellerman also returning. For that peek we told you about, you can view the show here.
Maron probably had no idea his WTF Podcast would reach 600 episodes when it first launched on September 1, 2009. For number 600, Maron chats with his old Air America radio buddy Sam Seder. They take a trip down memory lane and a special guest, who happens to be staying in the hotel room next to Maron, also pops in. Here’s a hint to who that may be. You can listen to the full episode here.
In addition to appearing at BAM this week, Maron’s New York visit also included a hilarious interview at the AOL Build Show. You can watch how that unfolded below.
And last, but not least, it looks like Maron is extending his Maronation Tour into July with stops in the New York area at the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM), The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, and The Paramount Theatre in Huntington. Scroll down for a full list. We recommend not MARONating on tickets too long, these shows are likely to sell out.
