Interpol Plays Final House of Vans Party Tonight, Watch the Live Stream
Today marks the end of an era. After eight fun-filled years, House of Vans Brooklyn hosts its final party. The march to the end has been spectacular, with shows this summer curated by Slowdive, Suicidal Tendencies, Against Me, Blondie, Deerhunter and more. The band given the closing honors and taking to the stage tonight, is hometown boys made good Interpol. A two-pronged celebration, the evening serves as both a final send-off to 25 Franklin Street in Greenpoint and a record release party for Interpol’s long-awaited sixth studio album, Marauder, which is out now on Matador Records. For those who weren’t able to score tickets to tonight’s shindig, you can catch the live stream on Youtube or Facebook.
Interpol’s new album has been hyped to the gills. In June, bandmates Paul Banks, Daniel Kessler and Sam Fogarino started the countdown clock to the record’s release with a press conference and an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Previously shared tracks, “The Rover” and “Number 10”, gave fans something to gnaw on over the summer months, and yesterday they dropped a video for the LP’s lead-off track, “If You Really Love Nothing”. The visual, which was shot in LA, is directed by Hala Matar, and finds a debaucherous Kristen Stewart canoodling with Finn Wittrock. You can watch how it plays out below. Marauder is available for purchase over here.
This summer’s shows at House of Vans Brooklyn have been extra special because the headliners have been given reign over their evening. Interpol have hand-picked experimental noisemakers Gang Gang Dance, and punk rock darlings Honduras to perform as the opening acts. As for customizing the space, Interpol will be bringing Jamie-James Medina’s album art for Marauder to life.
Interpol’s free show at House of Vans Brooklyn comes amid a world tour that will bring the band back to New York in February to play Madison Square Garden with Car Seat Headrest and Snail Mail. You can find all upcoming tour dates below.
The live stream of Interpol’s set at House of Vans gets underway at 9:45pm EDT tonight. You can either watch on the band’s Facebook page or their Youtube channel.
