Halloween 2015 Party NYC StrutPARTY: STRUT! Halloween Edition
Get your Halloween pre-game on at this week’s edition of STRUT! Hosted by Amanda Lepore, Leo Gugu, Beverly Sage, Levi Zolman and more, the soiree goes down at Acme and features a live performance by Sizzy Rocket and DJ sets by Cindy Kim, Taul Paul and Bridget Marie. Halloween 2015 Party NYC spooky mansionMUSIC: The Wild Honey Pie Presents: Spooky Mansion
Watch some of your favorite bands perform inside a makeshift haunted house this week thanks to the folks at the Wild Honey Pie. The crew are transforming the Paper Box into a spooky mansion for four nights and inviting acts such as Ratking, Talib Kweli, Blue Hawaii, Acid Dad, Museum of Love, and more to perform. Arturo Castro (Broad City) is playing host and the bar staff will all be decked out in character. You’ll also find interactive games, Halloween drink specials and more. PARTY: Sailors, Sirens and Sea Monsters: A Closing Party for Logan Hicks and Beau Stanton
Jumping on the Halloween bandwagon, the closing party for Logan Hicks and Beau Stanton’s art exhibit Calm Before the Storm is requesting that guests come in costume. The soiree is taking a nautical turn and hopes to attract a festive crowd of sea creatures, sea captains and mermaids. Maritime-inspired drinks will be flowing courtesy of Red Jacket Orchards and Black Button Distilling. Be sure to RSVP is you want in.

COMEDY: FEAR BAZAAR
The Upright Citizens Brigade gets in the Halloween act with FEAR BAZAAR. Billed as an immersive theatrical comedy experience that’s 95% cheaper than Sleep No More, FEAR BAZAAR features some of the UCB’s top improvisers, including Anthony Atamanuik, Shannon O’Neill, Connor Ratliff and Morgan Grace Jarrett, being comedically creepy. The show will be performed six times starting at 2pm, but we venture a guess it will be different each go. You can watch the show’s wacky trailer here.

PERFORMANCE: 48 Hours of Halloween: Lizzie Borden’s Parlour
The Tarot Society has a weekend full of sinister activities planned this Halloween. Starting Friday night and running through 11pm on November 1st, the divination salon and art gallery space will host performances of Lizzie Borden’s Parlour, musical guests, an insect petting zoo, morning scaretoons with a cereal bar and more.

Halloween 2015 Parties NYC Inferno McKittrick hotelPARTY: Inferno
The McKittrick Hotel (home of Sleep No More) is no doubt one of the spookiest places in the city. This Halloween, the Chelsea-dwelling building plays host to Inferno. A costumed celebration that will occur on two consecutive evenings, October 30 and 31, following the regular performances of Sleep No More, Inferno promises to be a one-of-kind party experience. It will include bottomless open bar, live music, surprise guest DJs and deviant witchcraft. Attire is occult-inspired, think sorcerer, enchanter, beast, fiend, monster, or if all else fails, just wear all black.

PARTY: Halloween Haunted Paddles
Witness the horrors of the deep at this Halloween happening hosted by North Brooklyn Boat Club. Pull up to the shores of Newtown Creek for a ghostly party featuring a bonfire, drinks, fried troll skin treats and food. And for those who dare, you can tour the post-industrial waters of the Dutch Kills aboard a canoe with a guide. Each canoe ride ticket includes a drink ticket. The party is free and no RSVP is required, but canoe ride tickets must be purchased in advance.

PARADE: BPC Halloween Puppy Parade
Costumed puppies on parade is what you get if you show up at noon on Saturday to the Battery Park City Esplanade. Now in its 14th year, the BPC Halloween Puppy Parade is the New York City pet parade with the best views, as canines strut their stuff along the Hudson River. Running from the South Cove wooden arbor to the North Cove Marina, this fete should be overflowing with furry cuteness. Prizes will be awarded for best costume (large and small breeds), best owner and dog combo, best dog team costume and more.

Halloween 2015 Party NYC Hallo-Wolfbat House of VansPARTY: Hallo-Wolfbat Halloween Party
The Hallo-Wolfbat flies this Halloween at House of Vans. Brooklyn-based artist Dennis McNett and guest collaborators will transform the House of Vans into a wild, psychedelic playground complete with mythological creatures, 16-foot robots, and live music. Set to perform are punk/noise rock band Flipper with new frontman David Yow (Jesus Lizard), sludge metal band Big Business, DJ Shannon Cornett, and DJ Zane Landreth (Mount Analog).

PARTY: You Are So Lucky
If spending Halloween in a long-dormant gothic mansion sounds like your thing, then you’ll want to jump on tickets to the opening night of “You Are So Lucky.” The folks behind the legendary Danger parties worked with the Junxion crew to nail down the epic location, and have enlisted the help of underground party producing titans like Balktick, Lady Circus and a dozen others to make sure this is a soiree to remember. Included in the cost of admission is transportation to/from, champagne and amusements during the ride, performances, music and more. The organizers describe it as “a story you will share forever.” The first batch of 999 tickets are sold out, but at 5pm on Monday, October 26 they will release a few more. Better act quick.

PARTY: Critical Halloween
If you’re a designer or just want to hobnob with members of New York’s designerati this Halloween, we recommend checking in on Storefront for Art and Architecture’s Halloween fete. Certain to boast an amazing assortment of costumes, this party counts members of Diller Scofidio + Renfro, Hargreaves Associates, Pentagram, and Studio Dror among its guests. Following a theme of demons, demonstrations and demolitions of art and architecture in a sartorial guise, the evening’s agenda includes dj sets by Daniel Perlin and Surfing, open bar, dancing, a costume competition and more.

PARTY: Halloween Bacchanalia at Museum of Sex
Halloween and sex make excellent bed fellows, which is why the Museum of Sex always rolls out the red carpet for the holiday. This year’s drunken celebration is co-hosted by One Year Theater Company and features light bites, open bar (9pm-10:30pm), access to the museum’s exhibitions, a performance by Cherry Pitz and music by Kotorino. There will also be a costume contest with prizes.

John Zorn Festival: Magickal Chamber
For those that get chills listening to sinister music, National Sawdust’s John Zorn Festival may be where you’ll want to spend your Halloween night. The 8pm program features works inspired by occultist Aleister Crowley, and includes “Walpurgisnacht”, “Gri Gri”, “All Hallows Eve”, “Hexentarot”, “Ghosts”, and a world premiere. Performing are Chris Otto (violin), Kyle Armbrust (viola), Jay Campbell (cello), Steve Gosling (piano), and William Winant (percussion). The 10pm program, Simulacrum, is equally as creepy and features musicians John Medeski (organ), Matt Hollenberg, (guitar) and Kenny Grohowski (drums).

Halloween 2015 Party NYC rubuladPARTY: Rubulad Presents Pee-Wee’s Playhouse of Horrors Halloween
Rubulad has not forsaken us this Halloween. Dialing up Pee-Wee, the underground party mischief makers have one of their signature soirees in store. The bash will include live performances by Les Sans Culottes and The Yeahtones, along with DJ sets by Ol’ Stark, Repoman and frenemies. Also on the roster is a cartoon carnival by Tommy Jose Stathés, G. Scopitronic’s Non-Stop Film Fest, and the Light Circus Extraordinaire by Norm Francoeur.

Both celebrating their 10th anniversaries, Jonathan Toubin’s Haunted Hop and Alana Amram’s Monster Mash cozy up again this Halloween. For the first part of the night, a curated selection of Amram’s pals dress up and perform covers by their favorite bands. Rumored to appear are Blondie, Beastie Boys, Velvet Underground, Kiss, and the Ramones. Come the witching hour, soul dj extraordinaire JT takes over to spin gems from his collection of Halloween 45s. A costume contest is also part of the festivities as well as appearances by a special guest DJ and the NY Night Train Shadow Dancers.

PARTY: PSYCHOPOMP: A Halloween Club Night
This dance-fueled shindig should rank up there with the craziest this Halloween. Manufactured by Boom Collective and Meatball, this affair summons party-thirsty souls on their way to the other side. Expect goths, dancing and plenty of booze as well as visuals by Brooklyn-based art-party collectives CHERYL, FCKNLZ and OWL. Spinning their way into the after-life are DJs Michael Magnan, Anthony DiCapua, Josh Sparber, Jonjo Jury and Amber Valentine. It all goes down at the Brooklyn Masonic Temple, a spooky and fitting location for a party of this proportion.

PERFORMANCE: Rocky Horror Halloween

PARTY: Don’t Sleep
The folks at Rinsed.It and Might Get Weird don’t want you to get any sleep this Halloween. Their rager goes from moonrise to sunrise and inhabits a “brooding” warehouse in Brooklyn. In addition to two rooms where you can get your booty shaking on, the party features an outdoor sculpture garden and open bar from 11pm-12am. BangOn!NYC is scaring up another one of their signature spectaculars in honor of Halloween. Featuring a full-blown haunted house complete with terrifying performers, stomach-churning surprises, and the Phallic Phalanx, this carefully curated blowout, which occupies a multi-room East Williamsburg Industrial Complex, also boasts two stages, a silent disco, scary art installations, mutant vehicles, a sideshow zone featuring sword-swallowers and fire-eaters, carnival rides and more. As for musical entertainment, the line-up includes Hayden James (Australia), Louis the Child (Chicago), Salva (Los Angeles) and Juan MacLean (DJ Set, NYC), among many others. If you can only go to one Halloween bash this year, Warehouse of Horrors is sure to do the trick, or treat.

PARTY: Gemini & Scorpio’s Seventh Annual Masquerade Macabre
Gemini & Scorpio are experts when it comes to costumed affairs. This Halloween they are reprising their mysterious Masquerade Macabre. A steampunk-inspired fete, guests can expect music, dancing, circus acts, mind-altering potions and late-night revelry. Among the performers are Sxip Shirey, Funkrust Brass Band, Philadelphia’s The Late Saints, burlesque dancers Anja Keister and Kita St Cyr, and more. Costumes are required and the organizers offer up these terms for inspiration: macabre carnival, aberrations of nature, cabinet of curiosities, dark Victoriana, evil funhouse, Jan Svankmaier & Brothers Quay films, Freaks, and The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari.
