Gambles Officially Drops ‘Let Us Be,’ Announces Instagram Live Stream Concert
Gambles, aka Matthew Daniel Siskin, officially released his Father John Misty-produced album Let Us Be. Executed in a grassroots manner, Gambles announced via Instagram that he wasn’t sending out a press release or securing a premiere partner. Rather, he preferred to share the news with his social media friends. He plans on hosting a record release party of sorts. On Wednesday, October 18 at 4pm ET, Gambles will do another live stream via Instagram where he performs songs from the album.
For the promotional elements of the record, Gambles enlisted his Instagram followers to submit photos and videos. The album cover, which you can see above, is a collage of faces submitted by fans. He will also release a crowdsourced video.
As for the music, if there is one defining track on Let Us Be, it would be “Hello, Laura.” The modern-day love song finds him crooning about how he and his love are renting assault rifles and planning escapes. And whereas his last album, Vicious Times, which he has now removed from the internet, was dark and filled with dismay at what was happening in the world, the songs on Let Us Be are more ballad-like, similar to his 2013 record Trust.
You can find the lyrics to three tracks off the record below courtesy of Gambles’ Instagram (sorry folks, he’s removed those posts). We’ve also included the album preview that’s up on Spotify. Let Us Be is available for purchase on iTunes.
