Listen to Father John Misty’s Original Demo of Lady Gaga Collaboration, “Come to Mama”

Father John Misty (a.k.a. Josh Tillman) continues to work in mysterious ways. This time, we find him collaborating with Lady Gaga on her new album Joanne. Tillman contributed his talents to three album tracks. He played drums on “Diamond Heart”, and assisted with penning “Sinner’s Prayer” and “Come to Mama”. In celebration of Joanne‘s release today, Tillman posted his demo version of “Come to Mama”, or as he likes to call it “Cum to Mama”, on YouTube with a note:

“congagarats on your release day gagaga and rondo
Thanks for the great times.”

You can listen to both Tillman and Gaga’s renditions of the song below Gaga’s version of the song below. Gaga went in a much jazzier direction with the track, of which the lyrics call for political unity. (Update: Sorry folks, Tillman took his version down)

Produced by Mark Ronson, Gaga’s Joanne is out now on Streamline/Interscope. In addition to Father John Misty, Gaga also enlisted the help of Florence Welch, Hillary Lindsey, Josh Homme, Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker, and Beck. You can listen the entire album now on Spotify.
