Event Details
Organized by French Institute Alliance Francaise, Bastille Day on 60th Street is New York’s biggest annual public celebration marking France’s independence. It spans three Upper East Side blocks and features music, face painting, mime acts, culinary treats, a vintage car show, prize drawings, and performances. Among this year’s acts are Can-Can dancers, Myriam Phiro’s Accordion Trio, and the Hungry March Band. Also, the cast members from the Tony award-winning musical An American in Paris will be performing. For those looking to mark the occasion in style, there’s a champagne and chocolate tasting in FIAF’s Skyroom, and a wine, beer, cocktail & cheese tasting in FIAF’s Tinker Auditorium (tickets are required for both). The day-long fête is also accommodating sports fans with screenings of the big match between France and Portugal in FIAF’s Florence Gould Hall, and an outdoor screening on 60th Street & Lexington.
