Here we are again with reasons to get out of the house. The Brooklyn Comedy Festival is in currently in full swing, you’ll find a little something about that and other comedy offerings this month over here. Also this week, Daedelus closes out MoMA’s Summer Thursdays concert series. Wondering how you can get in on some US Open tennis action on the cheap? Attend one of the qualifying tournament matches that are played this week, August 23-August 26. 128 men and 128 women are competing for the final 32 spots. Tickets aren’t required.

FESTIVAL: Summer Send-Off
Grand Central is saying “see ya” to summer with a three-day fest (August 24-26). Happening during the lunchtime hours, the festivities include food, musical performances from hit Broadway shows, raffles, and family-friendly activities like make your own sock puppet. FILM: 2016 Central Park Conservancy Film Festival
Just as other outdoor screening series are packing it in for the summer, Central Park Conservancy arrives refreshed and ready to show some films. This year’s selections take a tour of New York City’s neighborhoods. Screening are I Am Legend (Aug 24), Tootsie (Aug 25), Desperately Seeking Susan (Aug 26), and Stuart Little (Aug 27).
