Eric Andre’s Reddit AMA: Will There Be a Season 5 of ‘The Eric Andre Show’?
Although it was never asked explicitly, fans who tuned into Eric Andre’s AMA Reddit this past Wednesday were looking for signs that The Eric Andre Show would live on for more seasons. The show, which has its Season 4 finale airing tonight at midnight, has become very popular. Perhaps, too popular for its own good. In Eric’s Reddit responses, it’s clear that the show’s popularity is impacting its future prospects. It’s a bit of a catch 22.
For those unfamiliar with the format, The Eric Andre Show is a parody of a low-budget public-access talk show hosted by Eric, with comedian Hannibal Buress playing his sidekick. Each show features celebrity guests who think they are going on a legitimate talk show. However, instead of engaging in normal talk show banter with the guests, Eric pranks them. He may ask them provocative questions, require they play silly games, or unleash a bunch of rats in the studio, like he did recently to Fox News Channel’s Stacey Dash. Most of the guests are baffled by what’s going on. Some have been good sports about it, while others, like Lauren Conrad, TI, and Nick Cannon, have not.
With a concept such as The Eric Andre show, it’s essential that there be a pool of unsuspecting guests. But, as Eric and the show become more and more popular, the pool diminishes. During his AMA Reddit, Eric hinted at the show’s future. When pressed about how long he sees it being before the guests catch onto the format and the show loses its surprise factor, Eric responded that he would probably only be able to do one more season. So, it sounds like fans can be hopeful that Eric is contemplating at least one more season of the show. Let’s hope Adult Swim has faith and invites him back.
The Eric Andre Show Season 4 finale with guests Jack Black and Jennette McCurdy, and a musical performance by 311, airs tonight (October 14) at midnight on Adult Swim. You can get a taste of what’s in store below.
