Happy 311! Eric Andre Drops Official Trailer for Hidden Camera Prank Comedy ‘Bad Trip’
You didn’t really think Eric André would let 311 go by without some grand gesture, did you? The comedian marked the day by releasing the official trailer for Bad Trip. He actually released two versions of the trailer: a Green Band and a Red Band. From the looks of the Red Band, you can see why the film received an R rating. You have your choice of trailers below.
Bad Trip is Eric’s long-awaited Jackass-inspired hidden camera prank buddy comedy that he stars in alongside Lil Rel Howery, and Tiffany Haddish. Originally intended to be in theaters October 2019, Orion, the film’s distributor, pushed back the release date to April 24, 2020, which allowed for a world premiere at SXSW 2020. Unfortunately, the festival was canceled due to the Coronavirus, so that plan has been scrapped. Our fingers are crossed the film’s theatrical release goes off without a hitch.
According to the trailer, Eric plays Chris, a guy who feels like he’s spinning his wheels going from one crap job to the next. When he crosses paths with an old crush (Michaela Conlin) who lives in New York City, he has a brainstorm to go on a road trip to see her. He convinces his best friend Bud (Lil Rel) to join him on the East Coast journey. One problem, they need wheels. So, they borrow Bud’s sister’s car since she’s in jail and is clearly not using it. What could go wrong? Plenty. On their way, they prank a wide assortment of real unsuspecting people.
The backing track on the trailer is “We Go Together Well,” a deep cut from Canadian band Five Man Electrical Band.
Bad Trip is directed by Kitao Sakurai with a screenplay by Eric, Kitao, and Dan Curry. Ludwig Göransson and Joseph Shirley of Black Panther fame were in charge of the score.
