Dublin’s Girl Band Returns to Play Baby’s All Right Tonight, Pitchfork This Weekend
After months of anticipation, Dublin’s Girl Band are finally back in the US to play a few shows. It’s not the extensive North American tour that was unfortunately canceled last October, but at least it’s something. The band headline a sold out show at Baby’s All Right tonight before traveling to Chicago to play two shows, Pitchfork Music Festival and an official Pitchfork afterparty. These gigs are the first the noise rockers have played this side of the Atlantic since dropping their explosive debut LP, Holding Hands With Jamie.
Comprised of Dara Kiely (vox), Alan Duggan (guitar), Daniel Fox (bass), and Adam Faulkner (drums), Girl Band derive inspiration from a mix of post punk, industrial, and classic techno. Their live shows are notorious for being intense, loud and energetic.
Holding Hands With Jamie, which was recorded at Bow Lane in Dublin in April 2015, was released in September via Rough Trade. According to an interview the band did with Loud and Quiet, the record was gestating for a while as lead singer Kiely has been wrestling with some mental health issues. He had what he refers to as a breakdown. Working on the LP proved therapeutic and he incorporated his experience dealing with his situation into the lyrics.

Also for your viewing pleasure, we’ve included videos for other Holding Hands With Jamie tracks “Paul”, “Pears for Lunch,” and “In Plastic”, all of which were directed by Irish filmmaker Bob Gallagher.
In addition to Chicago and tonight’s show in New York City, the foursome will be back to open for Parquet Courts in August. Other than that, the band don’t have plans to tour the US. All upcoming shows are listed below. Holding Hands With Jamie is available for purchase now at Rough Trade, Google Play, Amazon, and iTunes.
