Watch Bill Hader Parody James Carville in New ‘Documentary Now!’ Clip, Season 51 Premieres Tomorrow
With the season premiere inching closer, IFC has shared another clip from Documentary Now! Season 51. It’s taken from the premiere episode, “The Bunker”, which is a parody of Chris Hegedus and D. A. Pennebaker’s The War Room. The clip finds Bill Hader playing political strategist Teddy Redbones, a character based on James Carville. Redbones has a southern drawl and a conspicuous bald spot, and in the clip, he’s giving the campaign staff working on Ben Herndon’s gubernatorial campaign a pep talk. He tells them they need to find some weird, mushy brownness on Herndon’s opponent Governor Lester. You can watch it play out below. For comparison, we’ve also included the trailer for The War Room.
Documentary Now! Season 51 premieres tomorrow, Wednesday, September 14 at 10pm ET on IFC. You can view the full trailer for the new season over here, or for other clips go here.
