Derrick Beckles Shares Long-Lost Sitcom ‘The Hopes’ Starring Courtney Love (Watch)

Back in 2014, when things were looking up in the world, Derrick Beckles (TV CARNAGE, Adult Swim’s Mostly 4 Millennials and Hot Package, The Eric Andre Show) roped Courtney Love into starring in a crazy sitcom he created called The Hopes. The show, which Beckles wrote, directed, and executive-produced, never received the wide-release it deserved. So, Beckles has started sharing bits and pieces of it on social media. Below, you can watch the trailer and the first few scenes from the first episode.

Along with the videos, Beckles posted the following information about the series:

THE HOPES is an homage to a long-running, non-existent 90’s sitcom. We watch as another gorgeous sunrise is above Clive Iowa in the fabulous Western region of Des Moines and home of America’s favorite family, THE HOPES – Chase, Noel, their twin sons – Henry Lee and Lucas and their dog “Doggy” of course.

In the show, Love plays Chase, the Hope family’s nutty matriarch. Beckles stars opposite as Noel, her conspiracy theorist-loving husband. Bobbé J Thompson (30 Rock, Wild ‘N Out) and comedian Jak Knight round out the cast, playing their twin sons, Henry Lee and Lucas.

In the first episode, Chase comes up with the harebrained idea of setting up her sons on dates. But things immediately go awry, leading her to have to “think fast… but not too fast.”

It’s unclear how many episodes there are to this outrageous sitcom, which comes complete with an old-fashioned laugh track. There appears to at least be a second episode, “The Haunted Car.” Hopefully, Beckles will keep the trailers and scenes coming. For updates, check his Instagram.
