‘David Bowie is’ Coming to Brooklyn Museum in March 2018, Tickets on Sale November 15
The countdown to David Bowie is‘s landing in Brooklyn has officially begun. The Brooklyn Museum announced that standard tickets for the monumental exhibit go on sale tomorrow, November 15, 2017, at 11am. The show will be on view from March 2-July 15, 2018.
David Bowie is arrives at the Brooklyn Museum at the end of a multi-year world tour that began in 2013 at the Victoria and Albert Museum and included stops in Toronto, Sao Paulo, Berlin, Chicago, Paris, Melbourne, Tokyo, Groningen, Bologna, and Barcelona. Presenting approximately 400 objects, mostly from the David Bowie Archive, the show explores the iconic artist’s creative process. Visitors will encounter original costumes, handwritten lyric sheets, studio equipment, original album art, photographs, and videos, tracing Bowie’s life from his teen years through to his last twenty years. The upcoming exhibit also features never-before-seen objects and works exclusive to the Brooklyn Museum. When David Bowie is appeared in London, it broke sales records, and continues to be the Victoria and Albert Museum’s fastest selling show, so we suggest jumping on tickets when they go on sale this week.
In addition this exhibit, the spirit of David Bowie is being kept alive in numerous other ways. This week, Bowie is the subject of an exhibit/event at the new Sonos concept store in London entitled Songs Stories: Bowie. Rarely seen images of Bowie’s life in London will be on display, and a diverse lineup of storytellers will be on hand to share stories about Bowie. Among those scheduled to participate are Nick Rhodes, Goldie, Graham Coxon, Carl Barat and Peaches. The event is free with RSVP. You can find out more here: Sonos.com/Bowie.
Also coming up in 2018, HBO will air a new documentary about Bowie. David Bowie: The Last Five Years, which just had its U.S. premiere at DOC NYC, pieces together the artist’s last five years, including the production of albums Blackstar and its predecessor, The Next Day, as well as his stage musical, Lazarus. In the spring of next year, Bowie lovers will also want to keep an eye out for Ricochet : David Bowie 1983, a new book of photos by Denis O’Regan. A limited edition fine art version will be released in May, with a medium format version coming out in the fall.
As for checking out David Bowie is, the show is a timed-ticket exhibition. Standard tickets will run $20 for adults on the weekdays and $25 for adults on the weekends. Lightning Bolt tickets, which grant attendees priority access to the exhibition, are also available now through the run of the exhibition and cost $35.
