In July, we reported that a supergroup comprised of Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy (aka Will Oldham), Ben Boye, Van Campbell, Emmett Kelly, Danny Kiley and Angel Olsen are releasing a Mekons cover album as the Chivalrous Amoekons. The record, entitled Fanatic Voyage, is due out September 16. Today, the group shared a track off the album. Get an earful of “Oblivion” below.

“Oblivion” first appeared on The Mekons pivotal 1996 album The Edge of the World. The song marked Sally Timms’ lead vocal debut with the group. The homage by Chivalrous Amoekons finds Angel Olsen and Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy performing the song as a soaring duet. We’ve posted the Mekons’ version below for comparison.
