Burger Records Announces First Ever Burger Beach Bash NYC Feat. GZA, Andrew W.K. & More
Orange County’s Burger Records are ready to make waves in Coney Island. The beloved indie label behind Burgerama and other such heathenous indie music soirees have announced the first ever Burger Beach Bash NYC. Scheduled for the same day as this year’s Coney Island Mermaid Parade, Saturday, June 18, 2016, the party goes off at MCU Park and features GZA, Andrew W.K. with a full band, Pentagram, Har Mar Superstar, and more. Tickets are on sale now.
Founded by Sean Bohrman and Lee Rickard in 2007, Burger Records has released music by over 500 bands including the likes of Brian Jonestown Massacre, Ryan Adams, Thee Oh Sees, Shannon and the Clams, Ty Segall, and The Growlers, and is also credited with revolutionizing the market for DIY-driven garage-rock cassette tapes. In 2012, the label held its inaugural Burgerama, a multi-stage fête at the Observatory in Southern California. Since growing into one of the most hotly anticipated indie music celebrations of the year, the party, which in 2016 was dubbed Burger x Observatory, celebrated its 5th anniversary with a 5-day event featuring performances by Slowdive, Crystal Castles, Black Lips, The Orwells, and dozens of others.
The Burger Beach Bash NYC isn’t the first time Burger has rocked New York City. The label has hosted showcases during CMJ, and its Caravan of Stars tours made stops at Bowery Ballroom in 2013 and 2014 with acts such as White Fang, Pangea, Cherry Glazerr and The Coathangers in tow.
In addition to GZA, Andrew W.K., Pentagram, and Har Mar Superstar, the all-ages surfside affair planned for Brooklyn in June also features Fucked Up, The Mystery Lights, Cotillon, Milk ’N’ Cookies, Mr Twin Sister, and more TBA. Chipping in to produce the shindig are No Roads Entertainment and DIMA Productions. The party runs 3pm-9pm and tickets are only $15. Pick yours up here before they sell out. And, while the Burger Beach Bash NYC won’t be exactly like Burgerama, the Grimy TV segment below on the Orange County festival should give a flavor for what Burger is all about.
