Arcade Fire Announce Feature Film ‘the Reflektor Tapes’, Release ‘Porno’ Video

After tackling the airways and picking up a few Grammys, Arcade Fire is coming to the big screen. The band will release their first feature film, The Reflektor Tapes, worldwide on September 24. Based on the clip that just dropped, this won’t be your run-of-the-mill music documentary. We aren’t sure if an Academy Award is in the band’s future, but cinema goers will certainly be rewarded with a visceral experience.

Directed by Sundance Award-winning filmmaker Kahlil Joseph, The Reflektor Tapes goes behind the scenes in the making of the band’s 2013 album Reflektor. According to the press release: “The film recontextualizes the album experience, transporting the viewer into a kaleidoscopic sonic and visual landscape.” The documentary journeys with Win Butler and his crazy crew to Jamaica, Montreal, Haiti, Los Angeles and London, and is stocked with interviews, footage of the recording process, and clips of the band live in concert.

In addition to Reflektor, music from Arcade Fire’s back catalog is also featured in the film, as well as a new, unreleased track.

The film is produced by award-winning studio Pulse Films (20,000 Days on Earth, Shut Up And Play The Hits), and What Matters Most, who are also responsible for the video for FKA Twigs “Video Girl”.

You can check out the first look trailer for The Reflektor Tapes below, as well as peep a new music video for the track “Porno”. It’s also directed by Joseph and borrows footage from the upcoming film. Towards the end, it turns into a promo for the feature film.
