Musician Alex Cameron Wants You to Pre-Order ‘Miami Memory,’ Hosts Alcamathon 2.0
Let the pre-order madness begin! Alex Cameron’s Alcamathon 2.0 is on. The Aussie musician is hoping to sell 3,000 copies of his new album, Miami Memory, Jerry-Lewis-Labor-Day-telethon-style. From now until midnight tonight (September 12, 2019), Cameron and his posse, including dear friend and business partner Roy Molloy, are broadcasting live from Brooklyn Bazaar in Greenpoint, Brooklyn hoping to spur fans to purchase Miami Memory, which is out tomorrow, Friday, September 13, via Secretly Canadian. Cameron has now shared four tracks off the LP. “Far From Born Again,” “Divorce,” and “Miami Memory,” were unleashed earlier this summer and yesterday he posted the audio for album opener “Stepdad.” You can check them all out below.
As the name implies, Alcamathon 2.0 is Cameron’s second telethon to spark record sales. Last year, Cameron and Molloy hosted the first Alcamathon from Queens, NY. The duo broadcast live on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook Live for 24-hours (noon on September 26, 2018 to noon on September 27, 2018) hoping to sell 1,000 records. The online event came a year after the release of Cameron’s second studio album, Forced Witness. It is no surprise that the pair was successful in achieving their sales goals.
Miami Memory is Cameron’s third studio album and is a slight departure from his two previous. Cameron conceived the record as a love letter to his partner, artist, and actress Jemima Kirke. Whereas in his other albums he sings about men’s curious behavior through characters, for Miami Memory, Cameron is often the narrator. He sings about his relationship and transition to life with Kirke and her children. He is very much paying tribute to the powerful women in his life.
Produced by Jonathan Rado and recorded and mixed by Marta Salogni, Miami Memory is cut from a classic rock cloth. In addition to Cameron’s dynamic and wooze-inducing vocals, the songs feature the saxophone stylings of Molloy.
As for Alcamathon 2.0, the best way for fans to watch is at https://alcamofficial.com/ or via Cameron’s YouTube channel, MYSHOWBACKTV. Click here to go to YouTube or stream below. Alcamathon 2.0 can also be viewed on Instagram, at Cameron’s account, ALKCM, and via Rough Trade NYC, and on Cameron’s Twitter. Molloy has also been streaming via Twitch. During the pre-game festivities, Cameron streamed on IG while he was getting his eyebrows bleached. Cameron and Molloy will be taking questions throughout. The call-in number is 1(520) 600-6203.
Miami Memory drops Friday, September 13, 2019 and is available for purchase here. Following the record’s release, Cameron heads out on tour. Dates are below.
