Adult Swim Festival 2019 Announces Schedule, Lineup Changes & Mobile App RSVP
With the Adult Swim Festival less than a week away, it’s time to start figuring out a plan of attack. The fest just came clean with its by-day schedules (see below) and announced some last-minute updates to the lineup. 2 Chainz and Rapsody are in while Lil Nas X and Young Thug are unfortunately out (Adult Swim says both cancellations are due to “personal reasons”). Anime streamer Crunchyroll is sponsoring an after-party on Friday night and the new improved Adult Swim Festival app allows ticket-holding fans to RSVP for events and screenings in advance. Best to download it ASAP to take advantage. RSVPs open on Monday, November 11 at 9am PST/12pm EST.
For year two, the Adult Swim Festival has cut back to two days versus last year’s three and added a stage. The Calico and Tabby stages host the bigger acts, while the Babycat Stage is mostly dedicated to show-affiliated shenanigans, comedy acts, signings, and dance parties, including Crunchyroll’s Anime Rave after-party with a DJ set by Ducky. Then there’s the Meatwad Dome. It hosts a variety of show screenings.
Among this year’s musical headliners are a reunited Dethklok, Flying Lotus’ animated rapper alter-ego Captain Murphy, Vince Staples, Jamie XX, Freddie Gibbs & Madlib, Leikeli4, Helado Negro and Speedy Ortiz. Clipping, who have a new 12” coming out at the end of the month titled The Deep, are also on the bill. You can check out the band’s recently shared track “Aquacode Databreaks”(feat. Shabazz Palaces) below.
Other highlights of the fest include The Eric Andre Show Live!, the Squidbillies 10 Man Bunkhouse Stampede hosted by Billy Wayne Davis, a Robot Chicken Intergalactic Power Summit, a discussion with Genndy Tartakovsky (Primal), and stand-up sets by Jena Friedman, Joe Pera, Sarah Squirm, and Conner O’Malley. Plus, you can catch screenings of Rick and Morty Season 4, the premiere of Joe Pera Season 2, and the finale of Black Jesus Season 3.
Fest goers can also climb aboard the Hot Dog Ride, slide out of a giant Morty mouth, or joust with friends atop giant cats.
As we mentioned above, if you haven’t already done so, download the Adult Swim Festival app (for iOS or Android). Starting Monday, November 11 at 9am PST/12pm EST ticket holders can register for the events taking place at the Babycat Stage and the Meatwad Dome. This includes signings by Genndy Tartakovky, and the creators of Robot Chicken and Squidbillies. And, if you can’t make it to the festival in-person, you can tune in via the [adult swim] app. The festival plans on doing a live stream of the festivities.
Tickets for the Adult Swim Festival, which runs November 15-16, 2019 at the Banc of California Stadium, are available here.
UPDATE: Adult Swim Festival has posted a map of the venue. We’ve included it below.
