Adult Swim at New York Comic Con: ‘Robot Chicken’ Party, Maiden Voyage, Panels
Adult Swim is set to make a big splash during the upcoming New York Comic Con. The network is hosting parties and panels during the weekend of the pop culture extravaganza to celebrate its popular shows including Robot Chicken and The Venture Bros., as well as introduce Jon Glaser’s much anticipated Neon Joe, Werewolf Hunter. What’s even better, is that some of these events don’t require a NYCC badge for entry.
Starting first with the “no badge required” activities, on Thursday, October 8, the network is throwing a big party to celebrate the 8th season of Robot Chicken. Taking place at Brooklyn Bowl, the show’s co-creators Seth Green and Matthew Seinreich will present a sneak peek of the upcoming season as well as premiere Robot Chicken DC Comics Special III: Magical Friendship (see trailer below). In addition the screenings, guests will be treated to a night of free bowling, prizes and a DJ set by The Rub. To get in on the fun, just RSVP and be sure to show up early to guarantee entry. Doors are at 6pm and the screenings begin at 8pm.
The network will also be hosting their second annual Tyrannic Maiden Voyage on Saturday, October 10. Free with RSVP, the event takes place aboard a boat that cruises along the Hudson and features a live performance by a secret musical guest. Boarding begins at 8pm and departure is at 9pm with a return at midnight. Guests must be 21+ to attend. Early arrival is recommended.
Also on Saturday, October 10, the Robot Chicken crew will be stopping by the Apple Store in SoHo for a free talk. Green and Senreich will be joined by actor Breckin Meyer, and filmmakers Tom Root and Tom Sheppard to discuss the series with Adult Swim VP Keith Crofford. You can register for the panel here.
As for the festivities at New York Comic Con, the network has a panel block on Friday, October 9 starting at 2:30pm. The creators and cast of The Venture Bros., Neon Joe, Werewolf Hunter, and Robot Chicken will be on hand to preview and discuss their shows. Among those appearing are Green and Senreich, Jackson Publick and Doc Hammer, Jon Glaser, Scott Adsit, Stephanie March and John Hodgman.
For those not in New York, the network may be coming to a parking lot near you with their Adult Swim Drive-In. Currently touring the country, the pop-up event will be traveling to Texas, Arizona, and California in the next month and features screenings of unaired pilots and specials, food trucks, trivia and prizes. Visit the event’s website for full details and to RSVP.
