Abbi Jacobson & Eric Andre Among Voice Cast in New Animated Series From Matt Groening
After parodying working class-life in modern-day middle America, and imagining what things might be like in the 31st century, Matt Groening is setting his sights on medieval times. The Simpsons creator has inked a twenty-episode deal with Netflix for Disenchantment, an adult animated comedy fantasy series featuring the voices of Abbi Jacobson, Eric Andre, Nat Faxon and more. The show is set to roll out on the internet TV network 10 episodes at a time starting in 2018.
Disenchantment is set in the medieval kingdom of Dreamland and centers around a hard-drinking young princess named Bean (Jacobson), her elf companion Elfo (Faxon), and her personal demon Luci (Andre). The story follows the trio as they have run-ins with ogres, sprites, harpies, imps, trolls, walruses, and insipid humans.
About the series, Groening remarked, “Disenchantment will be about life and death, love and sex, and how to keep laughing in a world full of suffering and idiots, despite what the elders and wizards and other jerks tell you.”
This show has been simmering for quite some time, as it was first reported that Groening was in talks to do something with Netflix back in January 2016.
In addition to Jacobson, Andre and Faxon, the show will also feature John DiMaggio, Billy West (Futurama), Maurice LaMarche (Rick & Morty), Tress MacNeille (The Simpsons), David Herman (Bob’s Burgers), Matt Berry, Jeny Batten, Rich Fulcher (Drunk History), Noel Fielding (The Mighty Boost), and Lucy Montgomery (Mongrels).
