The Murder Capital are poised to make a killing in the States. The Dublin five-piece have announced their first North American tour. It includes a gig at Knitting Factory in Brooklyn on March 12, 2020, and a stop at SXSW. All dates are below. Tickets for most shows go sale on Friday, November 15 at 10am local time.

The band have been gaining momentum over the last year or so. They started 2019 with not a released song to their name, only a live recording of “More Is Less” and a reputation for putting on insane live shows.

Flash-forward to 2019’s end and the group have a string of sold-out headlining shows across Europe to their credit, and a debut album, When I Have Fears, that’s cracked UK’s top 20 charts.

Like many bands, they are resistant to being pigeon-holed into one genre. They seem to channel Joy Division and Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds and are often lumped in with the post-punk revival. Songs like “More Is Less” deliver driving riffs, while “On Twisted Ground” is far less noisy but packs an emotional punch. Flood, who also worked on PJ Harvey’s To Bring You My Love and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds’ The Boatman’s Call, produced the band’s debut.

As for the quintet’s personnel, there’s James McGovern on vocals, Damien Tuit and Cathal Roper on guitar, Gabriel Paschal Blake on bass, and Diarmuid Brennan on drums.
