The National Announce ‘I Am Easy to Find’ Concert Film & EP, Screenings This Week in NYC, LA & Seattle
Do you remember that intimate show The National played at the Beacon Theatre in April? The one that sold out almost immediately. Well, if you didn’t manage to get tickets (or even if you did and want to relive it), the show is now the subject of a concert documentary, The National: I Am Easy To Find, Live From New York’s Beacon Theatre. The film is being released exclusively on Amazon Prime Video this Friday, August 23, 2019. An accompanying EP, The National: Live From New York’s Beacon Theatre (Amazon Original), will be available only on Amazon Music, dropping the same day. Fans in New York City, Los Angeles and Seattle can catch the film up on a big screen this week prior to the stream date at events free with RSVP. The National also shared the live version of “Ryan,” which appears on the EP. You can listen to it here. The trailer for the film is below.
The National played the Beacon Theatre as part of a series of five unique events dubbed “A Special Evening With The National.” Other stops on this mini tour included the Olympia in Paris, Royal Festival Hall in London, Roy Thomson Hall in Toronto, and Orpheum Theater in Los Angeles. At these gigs, the band previewed their newest album and Mike Mills-directed short film I Am Easy To Find starring Alicia Vikander. The soon-to-be-released Amazon Prime film features a complete performance of the album, special only to the Beacon show, with guest appearances from the Brooklyn Youth Chorus, Julien Baker, This Is The Kit and Mina Tindle.
The National’s latest project, I Am Easy to Find, is a bold new direction for the group created hand-in-hand with filmmaker Mike Mills (20th Century Women). The music and Mills’s 26-minute short film are not subordinates of one another. Mills described the film and album as being “playfully hostile siblings that love to steal from each other.” Mike Mills’s short film is available for viewing on The National’s Youtube page. I Am Easy to Find the album is available for purchase here.
For those who want to get in on those big screen screenings, the events are as follows with RSVP links. RSVP does not guarantee admission, so get there early.
