New Year’s Eve 2016: Our Picks for Ringing in the New in NYC

It’s almost time for 2015 to end its reign and pass the crown over to 2016. And, unlike this year’s Miss Universe pageant, we expect it to go off without a hitch. For those looking to do a little something, something in New York City on New Year’s Eve, we’ve put together a curated list of offerings. In the mix you’ll find an immersive James Bondesque, casino-themed party hosted by Gemini & Scorpio and Rubulad, a comedy show where the comedians bare all, a no-cover party with free vodka in Williamsburg, and more. See you on the other side.

New Years Eve 2016 NYC DIIV Bowery BallroomDIIV, Tamaryn, Special Surprise Guest
2016 could very well be the year of DIIV. Zachary Cole Smith and his musical crew are set to release their sophomore LP Is the Is Are via Captured Tracks on February 5. And, based on the sounds of leaked singles “Under the Sun”, “Dopamine”, and “Bent (Roi’s Song)”, the new record doesn’t find the indie rocker deviating too far from the sonic goodness found on his critically acclaimed 2011 debut Oshin. Smith appears to enjoy ringing in the New Year with a show. For NYE 2014, he got his crew together to play Baby’s All Right, and last year, he scored a coveted spot on Glasslands’ NYE/final show bill. This year, DIIV plays Bowery Ballroom with psych-pop goddess Tamaryn and a special surprise guest.
