Supercinema to Celebrate ‘Clue’ with Immersive Murder Mystery Party at the McKittrick Hotel
Did Mrs. Peacock kill the cook in the kitchen with the knife? Or, was it Miss Scarlet who killed the cop in the library with the lead pipe? These age-old questions and more will be revisited at The Guilty Party, Supercinema’s next immersive film-themed dance party inspired by Jonathan Lynn’s murderously funny 1985 movie Clue. Taking place at the McKittrick Hotel, the party is slated for Saturday, September 17 and tickets are on sale now.
In case you haven’t noticed, immersive film-themed parties are all the rage right now. In New York City, BBQ Films has been leading the charge for a few years. The group recently recreated Torettos garage for a cookout and screening of 2001’s The Fast and The Furious. Little Cinema is another team coming up strong in this department, with a mantra of “every film is a performance.” Little Cinema’s cinematic-infused affairs take place at House of Yes in Bushwick, and employ performers, dancers, aerialists, musicians, and more. This summer the crew created events around David Lynch’s Lost Highway, Milos Forman’s Man on the Moon, and Robert Zemeckis’ Who Framed Roger Rabbit, among others.
What sets Supercinema apart from the rest are its magnificent headquarters at the home of Sleep No More, polished theatrics, and the requirement that party goers get in on the fun by coming in costume. Back in February, Supercinema celebrated Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo & Juliet and revelers came dressed as their favorite character, whether it be a Montague, a Capulet, a King or Queen, a Knight, etc. Around Gay Pride, the party planners threw a dazzling Emerald Ball inspired by The Wizard of Oz. Other installments have paid homage to The Great Gatsby, Alice in Wonderland, and James Bond. You can check out the Supercinema sizzle reel below for what to expect.
As for The Guilty Party, it promises to be a surreal and mysterious event complete with dancing, live performances, and open bar. Ticket purchasers are asked to pick their part from a laundry list of Clue characters, including Wadsworth, Yvette, Colonel Mustard, Mrs. White, Miss Scarlet, Professor Plum, Mrs. Peacock, Mr. Green, Mr. Boddy, The Cop, The Singing Telegram Girl, The Motorist, The Chief, and The Cook. There is also an option to attend Mr. Boddy’s Banquet, a three-course meal before the main festivities. For additional details on The Guilt Party and to snag tickets, visit www.supercinemanyc.com.
