Stephen Malkmus, Screaming Females Added 4Knots Music Festival
The Village Voice’s 5th Annual 4Knots Music Festival is shaping up to be quite the indie rock music affair. Today it was announced that Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks and Screaming Females have been added to the already stellar guitar-driven line-up. Malkmus and his band, who continue to tour in support of their sixth album Wig Out At Jagbags, will be co-headlining the shindig with Welsh psych-pop rockers Super Furry Animals. Rounding out the bill are Mikail Cronin, Twin Peaks, Happyness, Meatbodies, and Heaters.
Screaming Females aren’t new to 4Knots. The New Jersey DIY-punk trio opened the kick-off show featuring Ted Leo in 2011. This summer’s appearance comes in advance of their national tour in support of their sixth album Rose Window. The critically acclaimed record was released in February via Don Giovanni Records. The band also recently did an amazing amped up version of Taylor Swift’s Shake it Off for A.V. Undercover (see video below).
4Knots has undergone some renovations for year five. The day-long music spectacle is relocating from the South Street Seaport to Pier 84, Hudson River Park’s largest public pier. In order to inhabit these new digs, the fest is now a paid-ticketed event with proceeds benefiting the Park. Tickets will set you back $25 for GA, and $50 for VIP, which includes access to the Hornblower Infinity Cruise Ship. The boat will be docked along the north side of Pier 84 and features a private VIP Bar, VIP Lounge, and an exterior deck. The Village Voice is currently running a contest for a pair of VIP passes. You can enter here.
Food is also part of this party’s grain. Revelers will be able to chow down on Dos Toros, Papaya King, Crafty ‘Cue BBQ, Harlem Public and Luzzo’s Pizza at the 4Knots Food Court.
