Gwar, Darkest Hour & Mutoid Man to Play Vans’ HalloWolfbat Halloween Party
The Halloween parties are starting to file in. In advance of our 2016 round up, we wanted to get HalloWolfbat on your radar ASAP. Now in its third year, the epic party finds artist Dennis McNett transforming House of Vans’ 25,000 square foot Brooklyn outpost into a wild, hallucinatory playground complete with large-scale installations inspired by folklore, mythological creatures, and pop culture. In addition to tons of gnarly eye candy, this year’s soiree serves up live performances by thrash metal band GWAR, Darkest Hour, and metal supergroup Mutoid Man. The party, which is free, goes down October 29, 2016 and is 16+.
Operated by a rotating lineup of musicians, artists and filmmakers, GWAR is known for its outrageous live shows, which feature grotesque costumes and stage props. For the HalloWolfbat appearance, the band’s lead art director Bob Gorman is working with McNett on a spectacular must-be-seen-to-be-believed, art-meets-metal finale.
Last year’s HalloWolfbat was transcendental with its giant moving sculptures and performance by Flipper with guest Gibby Haynes (Butthole Surfers). During the band’s set, a fish-shaped piñata descended from the ceiling and showered fans with goodies. You can check out photos from the shindig below.
Now that we’ve whet your appetite for the hyper-sensory affair that is HalloWolfbat, you’re probably wondering how you can get in on this Halloween weekend spectacle. As we mentioned above, it’s free and all you need to do is RSVP here. But you better act quick, as the RSVP is sure to fill up.
