The 2018 Governors Ball Music Festival might be six months away, but the organizers, Founders Entertainment, are hellbent on making the springtime fete top of mind. They are currently doing a slow 12-day tease of the 2018 lineup that culminates in a 48-hour ticket presale that begins December 12 at 12pm EST. So far, they have posted three visual clues on the fest’s website and will continue to release one clue a day until the presale begins. The Governors Ball is set to go down June 1-3, 2018 at Randall’s Island.

Now in its eighth year, Governors Ball has become a New York City institution. Its fate was slightly called into question when AEG launched Panorama in New York City in 2016. However, Live Nation came to the rescue and purchased a majority stake in Founders Entertainment, the festival’s organizers, and thus gave them some much needed bargaining power. Live Nation also enabled Founders Entertainment to launch other events in New York City like The Meadows Music and Arts Festival.

The 2017 lineup of Governors Ball featured such notable acts as Tool, Lorde, Chance the Rapper, Childish Gambino, Beach House, Mac DeMarco, and Franz Ferdinand. Other artists who have appeared over the years include Kanye West, The Strokes, Beck, Father John Misty, Drake, Lana Del Rey, St. Vincent, Tame Impala, The War on Drugs, Outkast, Vampire Weekend, Jack White, Kurt Vile, and many more.

As for the 2018 lineup, we have some guesses based on the first three clues. For clue one (see below), we’re going with Foster the People. Clue two, our guess is Keesha, she has that song “Praying”. And for clue three, we’re going with Khalid. Do our guesses match up with yours? (Updated 12/6: We’ve added clues #4 & #5, our guesses for these are Sam Smith and Daley, respectively) (Updated 12/7: Clues #6 & #7 are posted. These are kind of tough. Clue #6 has us thinking Kanye might be returning to Gov Ball for 2018. As for #7, could that be Bon Iver?) (Updated 12/10: Clues #8 & #9 added below. Again, these are hard. Our guess for Clue #8 is 2 Chainz. As for Clue #9, could that be a reference to Nicki Minaj?) (Update 12/14: Clues #10, #11 & #12 added below. These were giving us some trouble. A little stumped with the cassette tape. #11 our guess is Bjork? For #12, the boombox, that could be so many acts, we’ll have to wait to see who GovBall had in mind)
